How does that happen for you and for me?

Would you describe yourself as a 'nuts and bolts' type of person? Do you love getting down to the nitty-gritty and follow the 'tried and true' directions to the letter?

Do you keep finding yourself asking the Lord to open your eyes and show you HIS way?
 OR

Are you the type of person that adores creativity and enjoys a couple of vague suggestions and takes the idea and runs ahead with endless possibilities to explore like and uncharted voyage full of adventure?
For me, it seems that I am a mysterious mixture of both styles and I am beginning to suspect that you possess a unique mixture, as well.

I recall watching the movie Amazing Grace and relating to William Wilberforce when he realized that God had found him.  I like the way he described this strangely amazing point in his life.  He explained, to a friend, that he had not really been searching for the Lord.  But by some delightful encounter was found by the Lord. It was marked by a deep understanding with great Godly wisdom.  Of course, with that insight, he took bold risks and challenged his aristocratic lifestyle and everyone around him to step up to a higher calling.  His challenge was truly brutal (in my eyes) but he found it to be a great honor!  And our world was changed and God was glorified.  I think it marked a place where I fell in love with history and the great struggle and profound beauty of seeing God work thru mankind!  (Needless to say, I highly recommend that movie!)

Sometimes I find myself engulfed in a spontaneous blessing of great joy and insight but more frequently I discover that an intentional effort is needed, on my part, to pursue a Holy relationship with our Savior.  How does that aspect happen for you?

I have found, when I dedicate an hour each day to worship, praise, prayer and seeking to understand the Father, as well as asking for insight into His Holy Word, then it becomes a deeper way of stretching myself spiritually.  I have used many avenues to guide me in this endeavor.  For a little over 8 years, I used a program by Becky Terribassi with a One Year Daily Bible and journal.

The journal consisted of the following sections:
  • Talk to God ~~~ Write out your prayers
  • Listen to God~~~~Write down what you hear from your meditations and daily scripture reading
  • Give and Forgive~~~~~Work out of a list of exercises in the forgiveness process and write out what you plan to give today and to whom you plan to give it.
  • Plan Your Day~~~~~Complete exercises in writing regarding your daily nutrition, exercise, list of who you need to contact, to do list, and appointments.

This was a great program and I highly recommend it to anyone!!  It is a wonderful tool and method that you can use that yields GREAT fruit of the Holy Spirit.

Then I switched gears a few years ago to using the convenience of technology to assist me in my search for spiritual growth and deepening my relationship with Our Father.
I found this to be delightful and yet challenging!  Discovered many free Bible apps and just recently found a Bible In One Year app!

It is exciting to live each day full of abundant joy in my worship, Bible and Prayer time!  Now, I am on a quest to discover powerful ways to translate this beauty and joy of the Lord into my daily relationships.  I have found this practical aspect growing and I desire more.  Please share your insights and thoughts!
Grace, Blessings and Peace for the Glory of the Lord!
